Periodontal (Gum) disease is considered a “silent” disease as it rarely causes pain. It’s rather deviant in that it slowly erodes away the bone and tissue that support teeth. Usually by the time a tooth gets loose it may be too late to fix. Healthy gum tissue is pink. If your gums are red and/or bleed while brushing or flossing you likely have Gingivitis. Gingivitis is the first stage to Periodontal disease.
Bad breath is also associated with gum disease so if your loved ones mention that get it checked out. The bacteria associated with gum disease is linked to heart disease so don’t ignore it.
